Who is behind RoboBraille
Originally, RoboBraille is a Danish service introduced by Synscenter Refsnæs - The Danish Centre for Visual Impairment, Children and Youth and Sensus ApS. The non-commercial RoboBraille-service is owned and operated by Synscenter Refsnæs.
The purpose of the service is to offer an alternative to the decentralised, user-centric Braille translation systems used widely to produce Braille at varying levels of contraction.
The service has been running in Denmark since 2004. From 2006-2007 an eTEN RoboBraille market validation project was conducted in Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom with financial support from the European Commission. The project became a success and has been named winner of various international awards.
Our partnership with a number of leading institutions of education and training for people blind or partially sighted means that the RoboBraille service currently offers translations of files in Danish, English, French, Italian, Greek, Portuguese and Lithuanian.
