How to use RoboBraille - A Guide

Please find below a step-by-step guide on how to use the RoboBraille service free of charge. You do not require a log-in. You will need access to a computer, digital text and a program from which you can send and receive e-mails.

  1. You start by opening your e-mail program. Then choose to create a "New message". Attach the document to be processed by RoboBraille to the e-mail. Remember to only attach one document per e-mail.
  2. You do not need to specify anything in the subject line, but
    1. If you would like your document to be returned in a specific Braille format, you should use the subject field to specify the desired character set. For a full list of the character sets we currently support, please see refer to this link: full list of character sets
    2. Please remember to remove any logos, auto signatures and so forth from the document. The e-mail should be blank when you send it.
  3. In the "To field", enter the name of the RoboBraille account that suits your requirements. E.g. Sekspunkt@robobraille.org (Danish 6-dot major contracted Braille (Grade 2)). For a list of all the RoboBraille accounts, go to this link.
  4. Within a couple of minutes, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the final result, or an e-mail with the converted document attached if you have made a request to a Braille account.
  5. If you receive an error message, or if it takes a longer time than expected to complete the processing operation, then please contact us. Please note however that large documents require longer processing time.

RoboBraille is able to process one document per e-mail. If you would like to have more than one document processed, you simply send another e-mail. If you want to split your document into smaller chunks, you can use the account filepart@robobraille.org.
