Recent RoboBraille activities
Over the course of the past 12 months, a number of important functions have been added to RoboBraille, not least an interactive web interface that eases the use of the service significantly. The web interface is available here.
A number of new languages have been added to RoboBraille. These include German (Braille and audio), Polish (Braille and audio), Spanish (audio), Norwegian (Braille), Icelandic (Braille) and Slovenian (Audio). The team also added support for Braille formatting and embossing, including support for PEF – the portable embosser format – developed by TPB.
The RoboBraille team is currently in the process of adding support for Spanish, French and American English Braille to the service. Other activities in the pipeline for 2011 include support for Arabic Braille and audio, Daisy Math, delivery to mobile phones and conversion into various ebook formats including ePub and Mobi, the latter being the format used by the Amazon Kindle.
